In collaboration with
EPIC Makers’ Base

Our makerspace, the Windsor Mold Group EPIC Makers’ Base, was established to provide students from all faculties and registered members with a workspace to explore, learn and make cool stuff. The Maker’s Base workshop has a variety of equipment and tools available that allow its members to tinker on projects, to learn new skills, and create prototypes to bring their ideas to life.
EPIC Makers’ Base is equipped with various digital manufacturing equipment and hand tools. The following is the list of current equipment and tools available (subject to change):
- 3D printers – Ultimaker 3 Extended, Stratasys Uprint SE, Stratasys Dimension 1200 ES
- Materials for 3D printers include ABS Plus, PLA, PETG, Nylon
- Laser cutter – Epilog Mini 40W
- Materials for laser cutter include acrylic, plywood, TroLase
- Sewing machine
- Soldering and heat gun station
- Cordless drill and bit set
- Dremel and accessories
- Hot glue gun
- Screwdriver set (standard and electronic sized bits)
- Arduino Uno boards (for purchase?)
- Various electronic components (resistors, capacitors, wire, etc)
- Large work benches and breakout spaces.
Access to 3D printers and laser cutter is facilitated through onsite staff. Just bring in your completed digital design file and they take care of the rest. Our staff are also available to provide advice on how to prep your digital file before printing or cutting.
Machine use and their materials are subject to a fee. Payment is accepted via credit card only and must be provided before the start of the project. For fee estimation, please contact makerspace@uwindsor.ca.
3D printers will only be used with filament stocked in the space. Don’t worry, we have a wide selection of compounds and colours on hand. If you require a printer material not listed, come talk to us and we may be able to facilitate that depending on the demand. You are responsible to provide the material to be cut for the laser cutter. If you don’t have them, we have a small selection of materials on hand that are optimized for the machine for purchase.
Membership to the Windsor Mold Group EPIC Makers’ Base is free. Members will have access to the space to use its equipment and tools during hours of operation. Supervision may be required.
To apply for the membership, complete the application and drop off at the makerspace or email to makerspace@uwindsor.ca. You can also pick up the application package at the makerspace.
