Summer Wrap-Up, by Dr. Francine Schlosser

August 26, 2015in Blog 0 Comments

It has been a great summer at EPICentre!  We have expanded once again with new programs, such as the EPIC Founders and our cross-campus EPIC Faculty Fellows Program! We’ve been strengthening and redesigning other programming, including venture mentoring and interdisciplinary entrepreneurial activities.  Our upcoming events scheduled for the fall are geared to scientists, engineers and creative artists (see our events page).  During Fall 2015 we will consolidate information about campus 3D maker spaces and make that information more easily available through our website. Finally we are working to expose our students to more international venture activities, collaborating with other universities.

This Fall, EPICentre’s Wen Teoh and Heather Pratt take the lead on a multi-university research panel at the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centres discussing the implications and challenges of provincial strategy of ‘making universities play together nicely’ to develop impactful entrepreneurial programming.  Prof Nicole Sleiman will visit the Ontario University Fair to talk about entrepreneurial options for students. Prof Jim Marsh will be taking the Enactus students to South America for the international competition.   I will be representing EPICentre on a panel discussing civic entrepreneurship at the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs’ annual conference.

Strategically, you will soon see more Odette academic faculty members involved in developing customized entrepreneurial programming and research across campus. We are developing a hub of Odette researchers with strengths in consulting, international business, entrepreneurial behaviours, entrepreneurial education, second career entrepreneurship, youth entrepreneurship, health innovation, social entrepreneurship, and immigrant entrepreneurship.  This is an important direction for a sustainable and credible entrepreneurship centre.

So many things are going on!!  Please keep checking our website www.epicentreuwindsor.ca for exciting events!
