  • Why were you interested in the consulting course?

We were interested in the consulting course because we wanted the chance to put into practice the theories and knowledge we acquired over the first three years of our undergraduate career. The consulting course offers hands-on experience to 3rd and 4th year business students.

  • What was your project?

We had two projects. The first one involved helping a local company called “Arts Collective Theatre (ACT)” in Walkerville. The company just started their operations last year and has been relying on grants, while almost breaking even on revenues. We have been working with them to develop a more sustainable revenue source and form partnerships with sponsors from local companies.

Our Second project is helping Detroit Housing Commission (DHC). We are analyzing statistical data for DHC and support clients with chronic health illnesses. Please click here for more information.

  • What feedback did you provide to the company?

We have provided ACT with guidance in terms of approaching sponsors but are currently conducting further research for both companies. Final feedback and deliverables will be provided in April 2015.

  • Were there any difficulties you faced and had to overcome?

Setting a meeting with a DHC in Detroit was hard, but we had to accommodate them with flexible meeting times and eventually were able to meet with them in person.

  • Why were you interested in the consulting course?

The course gives us exposure to multiple different industries. Gives us the chance to work with local companies.

  • What was your project?

Our group project revolved around the idea of market research of the golf market industry in Canada. Our goal was to organize a hackathon to solve issues faced by medical professionals. Our project included identifying break-even points for the products, and potential target markets.

  •  What feedback did you give to the company?

Advised on product marketing, price points at various profit margins, social media marketing.

  • What did you learn from the project?

The difficulties that we faced were that the client would change requirements frequently. Another issue ww faced was finding data on private companies.

  • Why were you interested in the consulting course?

We firmly believe in the experimental learning that is acquired through this class. It was an awesome course to learn industries both locally and across the border.

  • What was your project?

Our project focused on three main aspects: Focus incubators, Social Entrepreneurship Grants, Supplier Model.

  • What feedback did you give to the company?

We created a process for local suppliers with procurement procedures for large institutions. Aided with production, sales, and marketing strategies.

  •  What did you learn from the project?

There was a lot of hesitation from companies. It was a great opportunity to learn more about resources available in the U.S.
