Have you ever traveled to another country or city but wanted to take in the local experience? Now you can with Amis Touring’s latest creation. Amis Touring is an app-powered, on-demand tour guide service for smart phones. It provides a simple platform for travelers to connect with locals who know the region and can make the local experience for travelers more enjoyable and convenient. It also allows for tour guides to gain an additional stream of income as they get paid for their tour guide services.
Amis now has three team members and is growing quickly. Alex Filip, a 3rd year Computer Science student at the University of Windsor, joined Amis Touring after getting to know the CEO, Moaaz Elsayed, through their Computer Science program. After getting to know each other, Moaaz asked Alex if he wanted to join the team as a developer and the rest is history. Alex now represents Amis Touring in the RBC EPIC Founders Program as their lead developer. He is currently working on developing the Amis application for both iOS and Android. He joins CEO Moaaz Elsayed, a 3rd year Computer Science Student and Sanah Malik, a graduate from the Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Windsor.
Before getting involved with Amis Touring, Alex didn’t have much exposure to entrepreneurship. His father had always gave him advice about developing his own business and this was something he took to heart. He had a slight interest in starting his own company and this particular opportunity fell into his lap and allowed Alex to put himself into the entrepreneurship space.
Currently, Alex has been discussing and developing innovative ideas for Amis and has become a significant member of the Amis team. He has been programming since he was 16-years-old and is now a full-time Computer Science student at the University of Windsor.
The team is now focused on completing their fully-featured website and app which they are planning to launch by the end of September 2017. They are currently recruiting guides and plan on testing out their platform in Toronto and expand from there.
The app will allow travelers to connect with these local guides who will then provide an authentic local experience. Users will create a profile based on their travel interests and the platform will match them up with local guides based on these common interests. The platform will also feature a two-way rating system for both guides and travelers and a verification process to ensure safety and security.
