EPICentre is thrilled to welcome a brand new cohort of EPIC VentureWomen. Each week, we’ll be featuring a different founder or team in a series we like to call 10-for-10.
This week, Meet Kaden Roy, founder of K.Roy Fit.
As a graduate of the Human Kinetics program at the University of Windsor, Kaden Roy immersed herself in the world of fitness both as a profession and a hobby. Spending her free time at the gym or outdoors exploring with friends or on camping trips, her love of physical wellness grew into an entrepreneurial venture, K.Roy Fit. A personal training business where Kaden challenges her clients to reach their fitness goals with or without a gym. “I started my business in August 2020 and I have rapidly grown my clientele to 25 hours a week in under 3 months,” said Kaden “ I offer home training, online training as well as outdoor boot camps when the weather nice”.
While perusing her passion for physical wellness, entrepreneurship fell into Kaden’s lap “I didn’t really have much of a choice becoming an entrepreneur” said Kaden “The gym that I’m a trainer at (Brady’s Fitness) requires that we become sole proprietors and pay rent monthly. From that point on I have been trying to stand out from all the other trainers”.
Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Kaden knew that one of the most important things she could provide was the ability for all her clients to not only achieve physical wellness but mental wellness “It is keeping your mind, body and soul healthy as well. Especially during a pandemic, mental health can be very detrimental which is why it’s so important to exercise” said Kaden “Due to the pandemic, going to a gym setting may not be comfortable for many which is why providing the option to train online or travel to clients houses is ideal for many”.
Like any young, budding entrepreneur, Kaden looks to mentors and friends to keep her inspired to keep pursuing her goals “My biggest inspiration when deciding to become a trainer would be my good friend and coworker, Rich Fleming” said Kaden “Without him, I would not be where I am today. He has taught me so much about being the best trainer and has guided me endlessly with support and knowledge”.
As a member of the EPIC VentureWomen program, Kaden along with the rest of the cohort will receive mentorship, access to workshops, industry connections, and tools and resources specific to each startup’s needs. “[by the end of the program] I see K.RoyFit as a more professional and organized Business with sales tactics, a website, and monthly memberships that will allow me to stand out from other trainers. I see myself confident in my abilities to promote and advertise my services With a consistent brand strategy” said Kaden.
