My name is Blake MacIsaac and I am a grade 12 student at F.J Brennan High School and am currently in the co-op program. I have always been interested in business and for years have thought about starting a business. Upon hearing about the possibility of my co-op placement being with the EPICentre I welcomed the opportunity, but was still left with the question of what business I would start. After considering several ideas I finally decided on selling mobile apps to small businesses. Apps are very beneficial to many types of businesses and are proven to increase sales and customer loyalty. The problem is that apps can be very expensive and are generally unaffordable for small businesses, that’s where I come in. I will be able to provide apps with high quality features at a much lower cost, finally making mobile apps affordable for small businesses.
I have recently applied for the summer company program and should hear back soon if I’m accepted into the program. If I am accepted I will receive up to $1,500 for start up costs and up to $1,500 when I have completed the program. Though this program only lasts for the summer, I intend to continue forward with the business afterwards. No matter how far the business goes I will at the very least gain some valuable experience, though I am going to put forth a full effort to make it as successful as possible. In addition to continuing to grow my business, next year I plan on attending the University of Windsor where I have been accepted into the business administration program.
