Social entrepreneurs play a critical role in community development and social betterment in local and global communities across the globe. In partnership with Libro Credit Union, our Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program aims to support changemakers looking to launch and grow a social enterprise through specialized coaching, network boosting, tailored workshops, and explorative opportunities to test and build their business model.

Successful applicants can expect to receive:

  • $2,000 in funding + the opportunity to pitch at the end of the program to win cash prizes totaling $6,000
  • Access to exclusive workshops, learning seminars, and speaker sessions with distinguished guest speakers
  • 1:1 tailored coaching and business support through Pillar Nonprofit
  • Access to EPICentre co-working space
  • Opportunity to work alongside like-minded social entrepreneurs

This program is valued at over $7,000 and is 100% free of cost to all participants.

Applications open January 6, 2022

  • You have a basic understanding of social entrepreneurship
  • You have an impactful vision and understanding of the social and/or environmental problem you are trying to solve and a potential solution
  • Your business idea is a for-profit or non-profit social enterprise
  • Your revenue (or potential revenue) from the sale of products or services funds a significant part of your business model
  • The business is (or will be) based in Windsor-Essex
  • The business is 2 years old or less. The business can be early-staged as long as you have the goal of earning revenue during the 16-week program
  • You are available for the mandatory sessions listed in Key Dates

This program will also be delivered through a hybrid approach of virtual sessions as well as in-person activities. These activities will take place at the University of Windsor EPICentre. All applicants applying to this program must comply with the University of Windsor’s Return to Campus policies.

The Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program is specifically designed for aspiring social entrepreneurs who are driven by a blended value proposition of financial, social, and environmental or cultural returns.

Through this program, you will receive tailored coaching, specialized resources, tools, and networks to help you build a thriving social enterprise. Throughout the 16-week program, participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops and learning sessions on social entrepreneurship fundamentals and business model development.

Program participants can also expect to:

  • Be connected with an experienced and dynamic social enterprise coach
  • Have access to EPICentre’s Expert Advisory Panel
  • Pitching opportunities with cash prizes available
  • Network with social entrepreneurs, local leaders, and like-minded people

Social enterprises selected for this program will:

  • Have access up to $2,000 in funding on eligible business expenses. These expenses are typically used towards marketing and promotion, accounting and legal services, product development, and other support
  • Pitch their idea to a panel of judges at the end of the program for a chance to win the $5,000 grand prize, as well as $1,000 People’s Choice Award
  • Have free access to EPICentre’s co-working space during the program + 1-year membership to our Incubation Program

The application will be available Thursday, January 6, 2022

  • Application open: Thursday, January 6, 2022
  • Application close: Thursday, January 27, 2022
  • Final candidates selected on: Monday, January 31, 2022
  • Program start date & orientation: Monday, February 7, 2022 @ 1:00 – 2:30 pm
    *mandatory for successful applicants*
  • Program end date & final pitch competition: Friday, June 3, 2022

 

Your Commitment

  • All applicants must be available every Tuesday starting Tues, Feb 8, 2022, to Tues, May 31, 2022, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm for program activities, workshops, events, and group discussions
  • Available to attend workshops, events or activities scheduled outside off the above time as needed
  • Outside program activities, applicants should dedicate a least 20+ hours a week to their business
