Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program

Background EPIC Founders

Social entrepreneurs play a critical role in community development and social betterment in local and global communities across the globe. In partnership with Libro Credit Union, our Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program aims to support changemakers looking to launch and grow a social enterprise through specialized coaching, network boosting, tailored workshops, and explorative opportunities to test and build their business model.

This program is valued at over $6,000 and is 100% free of cost to all participants. Applications open January 11th, 2021

  • You have a basic understanding of social entrepreneurship
  • You have an impactful vision and understanding of the social and/or environmental problem you are trying to solve and a potential solution
  • You can show some evidence of idea validation (customer interviews, expert consultation, market research, etc.)
  • Your business idea is a for-profit or non-profit social enterprise
  • The business is (or will be) based in Southwestern Ontario
  • The business is 2 years old or less (the business can be early stage, as long as it meets the criteria above)
  • You are available for the mandatory sessions listed in Key Dates

The Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program is specifically designed for aspiring social entrepreneurs who are driven by a blended value proposition of financial, social, and environmental or cultural returns. Through this program, you will receive tailored coaching, specialized resources, tools, and networks to help you build a thriving social enterprise. Throughout the 13-week program, participants will have the opportunity to attend exclusive workshops and events on topic such as (but not limited to):

  • Human-centered design thinking
  • Storytelling, social media marketing and branding
  • Social impact planning and evaluation
  • Business model generation
  • Business fundamentals
  • Networking opportunities
  • Other

Program participants will also have access to an expert advisory panel, a trained social enterprise coach, pitching opportunities, and more!

All activities will be hosted virtually for the duration of this program.

Social enterprises selected for this program will:

Have access up to $2,000 in funding on eligible business expenses – such as marketing activities, accounting and/ or legal services, product development, and other support

Have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a panel of judges at the end of the program for a chance to win a $5,000 grand prize, sponsored by Libro Credit Union

Please note: If accepted into the Social Enterprise Winter 2021 Program, participants must be available for the following:

  • Program orientation: Monday, February 8th – 1:00 – 2:30 PM
  • Biweekly group meetings: every other Tuesday, 2:00 – 3:30 pm starting February 16th, 2021
  • Other workshops and events will be scheduled at the needs of the cohort and guest speakers/ workshop facilitators
