The formal opening of the Entrepreneurship, Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) at the University of Windsor took place today at 10:30 am.
Welcoming remarks were presented by Dr. Reza Moridi, Ontario Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation, by Dr. Alan Wildeman, President, University of Windsor and by Dr. Michael Siu, VP Research.
EPICentre and the University of Windsor received $1.1 million from the Province of Ontario to support job creation through the Ontario’s Campus-Linked Accelerators (CLA) program. The grant is designed to “build on world-class innovation and entrepreneurial programs at the University of Windsor”. EPICentre encourages young people to start and grow a business through entrepreneurship activities and awareness programs on campus and in the community. The $1.1 million grant will support job creation and economic development opportunities in the region and further develop strong ties to entrepreneurial mentors.
An Open House for the entire campus community, business partners and incubator members will take place later today starting at 4:00 PM.
