During the last weekend of September, EPICentre’s Program Director Nicole Anderson represented EPICentre at the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centres (GCEC) in Rochester, NY. With over 450 constituents from entrepreneurship centres across the globe, Nicole learned about entrepreneurship across campus, centre structure, funding and operation, centre outreach and community impact, global collaboration, social entrepreneurship, supporting unconventional entrepreneurs and pivotal moments for entrepreneurship centres.
EPICentre had the spotlight during the “Shameless Self-Promotion” event, where Nicole had the opportunity to showcase to over 200 attendees the successes of the EPICentre, including our Founders’ Program, Incubator, and Discovery Program. She also took part in the “Great Debate: Should Centres be Controlled Centrally” breakout session. Here, Nicole spoke of the importance of our centrally-run entrepreneurship centre in areas such as sustainability, funding, and governance.
This is the fourth year EPICentre has attended the Consortium and the GCEC continues to be one of the year’s major learning opportunities, as it provides our team with the ability to hear from successful, well-established centres across the world. Nicole will be bringing back new ideas on the redevelopment of our Mentorship Program, as well as thoughts on our marketing strategies and attracting our entrepreneurship alumni. Thanks are in order to Rochester University and the Rochester Institute of Technology for graciously hosting us on their beautiful campuses. We look forward to next year in Halifax, NS!
