EPIC Female Entrepreneurs

September 22, 2020in News 0 Comments

With the launch of our second cohort of the EPIC VentureWomen program, the EPICentre team felt this would be the perfect time to introduce you to some of the EPIC Female Entrepreneurs within the YQG community. Every week leading up to the application deadline, we will be featuring local women who inspire us by paving their own path in the world of entrepreneurship.

Meet Hanlu Li, co-founder of Ani & Fabi, Canadas first gourmet baking kits delivered to your door. “Dominik and I always wanted to start our own business, and spending time with Dominik’s younger sisters, we realized that often they wanted to bake, but without the help of an adult, it was a hard task to accomplish for them” said Hanlu when asked about how they came up with the idea for their unique business. “We came up with the idea of developing packages designed to make the process simpler, while at the same time making the process more fun. Make baking truly for all ages, and through it, create an opportunity for bonding among those who bake together”.

As with any venture, Hanlu and Dominik had their own set of challenges to deal with “The biggest challenge would be the inexperience. No matter how much we learned in school, there are always new things and challenges we haven’t seen before, and we need to solve problems all the time, some of the problems we have never anticipated” said Hanlu.
With the launch of the EPIC VentureWomen program, the EPICentre team was curious to know what advice Hanlu had for aspiring entrepreneurs “Don’t be afraid to have ideas, do your homework, and make the first step. Don’t forget about the network around you, there are many people who are willing to support you”.
