UWindsor Students Host Windsor-Essex Tour in Collaboration With Oxford Brookes

Each year, UWindsor students can participate in an international collaboration with students at Oxford Brookes University in England; UWindsor students will be acting as consultants and Oxford Brookes students will be acting as clients. The overall goal of this collaboration is to utilize technology as a primary means for consulting between the two student groups to provide students with international, real-time experiences that cannot be simulated in the classroom. In late September, the Oxford Brookes students traveled to Windsor, Ontario for a packed week filled with introductions, client meetings and presentations; but the student consultants certainly had their fun in-between. Early in the week, students from the University of Windsor and Oxford Brookes traveled around Windsor-Essex to uncover some of Windsor-Essex’s largest economy drivers. The day started off with a full tour of Highline Mushrooms in Leamington Ontario, followed by a second tour of Pure Flavor Farms. After our quick lunch break, we headed over to Cooper’s Hawk Winery in Harrow, Ontario. Each student was exposed to the hard labour involved with farm, greenhouse, and winery operations, while at the same time, we also learned about some of the unique opportunities available to those who have a science and/ or business background. We had such a blast and can’t wait to travel to Oxford, England in late October. Stay tuned for more details…
