3D Print Innovative Devices for Accessible Healthcare
EPICentre has partnered with Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare to deliver Print for Healthcare. This competition invites students and community members to form multidisciplinary teams to research and identify a need for a new or improved device that would benefit anyhealthcare field. Kick-off Event:Lunch keynote speech by David Schonthal, Innovation Expert at IDEO! In the morning, seminars on 3D printing in healthcare, local healthcare testimonials, and 3D printing needs. In the afternoon, live 3D printing demonstrations, facilitated connector event with all participants and stakeholders, and professional mentoring to begin your device ideas! Meet a Mentor: Speak with mentors from business, healthcare, and 3D printing to help you with your final presentations. (Details coming soon!)
Final Event: Teams will showcase their devices, research, and business plans to judges from healthcare, funders, city officials, and local businesses. Please click HERE to register. Deadline to register is January 5th, 2018.
Competition is open to students and community members in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Detroit and surrounding areas
Teams must consist of 2-4 members
Teams are strongly encouraged to consist of members from different disciplines

TechTown “Prescription for the Future” Award, Most viable solution and highest potential to impact the healthcare market
This award will include:
A visioning session with In2Being medical device development firm that would touch on device input requirements, product design, testing/validation, US regulatory requirements, risk management and more (60-120 mins).
U.S. market and growth opportunity analysis (discussion or in-person meeting and report) from Frost and Sullivan Global Market Research Firm (https://ww2.frost.com/) Note: This would be customized to the type of device and technology the winner is attempting to commercialize
Attendance to the Feb 2018 “Medhealth Summit” in SE Michigan and a 1-on-1 meeting with a major U.S. healthcare system
Space at TechTown Detroit for 3 months (co-working desk) and consideration for a 3-month TBIC (TechTown Business Incubation Center) service from one of our EIRs
Valued at $10K Total
The University of Windsor Alumni Award. The recipient of this award will display the device that is most likely to be implemented into healthcare, as determined by the University of Windsor Alumni Association judges.
$1000 Cash Prize
WEtech Alliance Innovation Award. The recipient of this award will be given an exclusive dinner meeting with a healthcare executive in the field of the device.
