Libro – EPIC Social Enterprise Pitch Competition

In partnership with Libro Credit Union, EPICentre is hosting the second annual Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Pitch Competition on September 19th, 2019, at the University of Windsor, EPICentre.

If you are a new or existing Social Enterprise or Social Entrepreneur and would like to pitch your idea at our Social Enterprise Pitch Competition, please apply by September 9th, 2019.

The winners of the pitch competition, selected by a panel of judges, will be entered in the Libro-EPIC Social Enterprise Program to further develop their social enterprise ideas. Each participant will receive an award up to $8,000 for completing the 16-week program. The Social Enterprise Program will require part-time commitment (at least 15 hours/week) over a 16-week period from October 1st, 2019 to January 31st, 2020 (dates are subject to change).

What is a Social Enterprise?

Social enterprises use business strategies to achieve a social or environmental impact. While generating revenues from the sale of goods and services, social enterprises also expressly intend to create positive outcomes, and they measure their results. As their business grows, the social impact grows.

What is the Application Process?

Please carefully review the 2-step application process.
Round 1: Formal Application
Applicants will be required to submit a formal application. Application submissions will open on August 1st. Deadline to submit is September 9th, 2019 at 11:59 PM.
Applications will be reviewed by the committee and successful applications will proceed to Round 2.
Round 2: Idea Pitch
Successful candidates will be asked to pitch their idea at the Social Enterprise Pitch Competition on September 19th.

What happens if I don’t successfully complete Round 1 and/ or Round 2?

EPICentre hosts a variety of workshops throughout the full academic year. All workshops are free for anyone to attend. We encourage you to sign up for our newsletter to get more information on new and upcoming workshops and events.

You might also want to consider signing up for our Discovery Program. This program is a free 4-month mentorship program aimed at individuals at the ideation or discovery stage of their venture.
