Kiyanoosh Shapoori recipient of $50,000 OBI Entrepreneurs Program

kiyanoosh_shapoori_3_0Congratulations to Kiyanoosh Shapoori, one of the seven recipients of the Ontario Brain Institute’s (OBI) Entrepreneurs Program in September 2015 for his project titled “Development of a novel portable ultrasonic transcranial imaging system for immediate and on-site diagnosis of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in civilian emergency settings”. Kiyanoosh currently is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Windsor’s Institute for Diagnostic Imaging Research (IDIR), working with Dr. Roman Maev. Kiyanoosh received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2014, under the co-supervision of Dr. Anthony Sinclair from University of Toronto and Dr. Roman Maev from the University of Windsor. He received his MSc in Physics from the University of Windsor in 2008. The OBI Entrepreneurs Program provides up to $50,000 to post-graduate students to support their commercialization activities related to neuroscience-based projects/technologies over the period of one year. In addition to funding, OBI Entrepreneur also gets to work with an assigned industry mentor and receives professional support from OBI throughout the year.
